Stages of Faith Development — Part 9: Job's Questioning Phase

Thank you for supporting and attending our worship services. We are excited to share Part 9 of the "Stages of Faith Development" series with you in our July 21, 2024, worship service. Minister Wadzeck's sermon will focus on "From Conformity to Questioning with Job"; the Scripture reading is Ezekiel 14:12-14. We encourage your presence on Sunday as we continue learning from this spiritually rewarding series.

OUTLINE:

Job and his friends believed that if you do right, God will reward you. If you do wrong, then God will punish you. Since Job is suffering in extremes, he must have done something wrong.

A. Bildad Defends the Conformist View
B. Job Questions God's Justice
C. Zophar Rebukes Job
D. Job Wants to Put God on Trial
E. Job's Friends Fail to Comfort Him
F. Job's Complaint About God
G. The Wicked Prosper
H. Job Wants his Case Heard by God
I. Job Proclaims his Innocence
J. The Questioning Phase
Some overly simple beliefs are embraced during our Conformity Phase. When life experiences challenge these beliefs, we are thrown into a period of questioning. We seek to make sense of life and God's role in it.
